Cherry Tulip are now open and settled into one of our Kiosks, where they sell a variety of gorgeous cut flowers and house plants. We chatted with owner Reece about his business and love for plants.

When and how did you start your business?

Reece: My family’s plant business was actually started in the 1950s, when my Grandad would drive to Covent Garden Market and buy violets to sell in Broad Street, Reading. Personally, I started in flowers and plants while still at school and then set up the online business (known as Cherry Tulip) almost 30 years later!

What do you enjoy most about running your own plant-based business?

Reece: Just being surrounded by flowers and plants!

What types of plants and flowers can we find in your store? And which is your favourite?

Reece: At the moment we have a variety of house plants (Monstera, Bonsai Trees, Succulents), Peonies, Allium, and assorted bouquets for any budget! I couldn’t possibly choose a favourite! Scented Sweet Peas in the summer, one of any Narcissi in the Spring, spectacular Amaryllis at Christmas time and the list goes on!

What’s the best house plant for a beginner plant parent?

Reece: The new Mini Monstera is definitely a great place to start for beginners.

If you were a plant, what would you be?

Reece: If I could be any plant, I would be a singing plant. Therefore I would be Audrey Jr. from Little Shop of Horrors!
